Today, the AA is in
many ways the same motoring organisation that
their members have trusted since 1905. The
millions of AA members make them by far the
largest motoring organisation with some 3,600
highly trained patrols.
The principle difference these days is that they
now provide services not only
to get you safely from A to B, but to help
organise your finances and even plan your weekends
and holidays.
The
AA really can offer you everything you need, and
they are proud to be the long-established voice of
the motorist, respected by members, the public,
safety experts and the Government – on transport
issues.
In July 1999, Centrica, the leading supplier of
energy and services to the home in Great Britain,
announced its intention to buy the AA for £1.1
billion. The sale was completed in September,
after their members voted overwhelmingly in favour.
In July 2001 they bought the car-servicing arm of
Halfords, another of the ways in which the AA are
constantly expanding and improving their brand.
Who is Centrica?
Centrica is a leading provider of energy and other
essential services at home and on the road.
They aim to make life easier for millions of
