Transfer Time:- Coach transfer time from Las Palmas Airport (LPA) to Playa Del Ingles is 35 minutes.
Time Zone:- Gran Canaria is always the same time as the UK and move their clocks simultaneously in the spring and autumn with the UK and the rest of Europe.
Electricity Supply:- The voltage in Gran Canaria is 230V-50 Hz. 2 pin European plug or adaptor is required.
Currency:- The currency on Gran Canaria is the Euro.
Legal:- Politically Gran Canaria is within the European Union as an autonomous region of Spain, however non of the Canary Islands are considered to be within the European Union for the purposes of VAT and duty on goods. Goods and services on any of the Canary Islands do not attract Spanish IVA (VAT), however there is a local tax levied (IGIC) at around 5%. This makes goods (tobacco, alcohol etc) from Gran Canaria significantly cheaper, so strict limits are in place on the quantity that can be legally brought back to the UK. When you leave baggage reclaim, proceed via either the GREEN channel (if you have nothing to declare) or the RED channel if you have anything to declare or are in any doubt about the goods or quantity of goods you intend to bring into the country.
